This course gives beginning students a strong basic understanding of the common, uncomplicated rhythms that are a foundation for further learning and success in electrocardiography. The first eight chapters, which can be used as self-instruction, cover basic electrophysiology, waves and measurements, rhythm analysis, and the five major groups of arrhythmias. Basic Arrthymias then introduces cardiac anatomy, clinical manifestations, 12-lead electrocardiography, and cardiac pacemakers.

The Advanced 12-Lead EKG class is for the healthcare professional that already knows how to read 12-lead EKG's, but wants to get a better understanding of the depth of assessment the 12-lead EKG provides.

This course will provide information about recognition of coronary artery occlusions that would not qualify as a STEMI, but still need PCI. A pre-STE sign for inferior MI's, ways of identifying MI's in the presence of a left bundle block, recognition of hypothermia, hypo/hypercalcemia, Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy, Brugada Syndrome, A-fib with WPW, large pulmonary embolisms, and other potential fatal disorders that show up on a 12-lead EKG will be discussed.

There is a pre-course group of 12-lead EKG's to interpret (with no minimum score) prior to attending the 8-hour class. Eight hours of CE will be given upon class completion.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

The BLS CPR Class covers:

  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR
  • Conscious and Unconscious Choking for victims of all ages
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use and special considerations
  • Breathing Barriers, Bag Valve Masks, and 2 Rescuer CPR
  • Cardiopulmonary Emergencies and Special Resuscitation Situations

Provider Course requires approximately 4-5 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.

Certification cards issued on next business day.

The AHA ACLS Heartcode is a blended learning course.  Diadactic information is delivered through an interactive online course.  Upon completion of this course you will receive an online certificate which must be forwarded to the education assistant at least two days prior to the class.  BLS skills and Megacode testing in class.

Current AHA BLS certification required.

ACLS certification card issued on next business day.

The ACLS Provider Renewal  Course is for advanced health care providers in the hospital or pre-hospital who has taken the AHA ACLS course within the last two years and has to renew their certification.   It is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be a team member or  team leader in either setting.   Must have current AHA ACLS card.

Specific pre-requisites need to be completed and turned in two days prior to the class.  Please register in enough time to allow you to complete the pre-work.  Students are required to successfully complete the AHA BLS HCP course and provide a copy of current (unexpired) BLS certification card prior to the class.

This is a renewal course for the ACLS instructor.  Student must have a valid instructor card and be in good standing.

The Basic 12-lead EKG class is for the Healthcare Professional that knows how to interpret EKG rhythms on a single lead view and wants to get introduced to the basic assessment capabilities the 12-lead EKG provides.

This course will provide a review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, the importance of proper lead placement, and how to recognize probable improper lead placement on a 12-lead strip.  The course will cover axis deviations, atrial and ventricular enlargements, bundle branch blocks, and recognition of coronary artery occlusions that qualify as a STEMI.

For this class students may find Appendix C and Appendix D of Basic Arrhythmias, 8th edition by Gail Walraven to be helpful, though almost any basic 12-lead interpretation manual should be helpful.

Some electrolyte imbalances (such as Hyper and Hypokalemia), as well as touching on some advanced 12-lead tips (Smith-modified Scarbosa criteria, A-fib with WPW, Brugada Sundrome, etc.) may be discussed if time permits.

NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care through global education.  PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program. PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care in your area and decrease mortality. The program is based on a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. This may require an approach to the trauma patient that varies from traditional treatment modalities. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care. The PHTLS course is continuously updated and revised to keep up with the advances in the field, ATLS Guidelines and feedback from PHTLS participants.

Participants must show proof that they have taken the class within the last 4 years.

The Trauma Nursing Core CourseTM (TNCC) - 9th edition, is a one and a half day course developed by the Emergency Nurses Association to present a firm foundation in trauma nursing and to provide nurses with core or basic trauma cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills that are associated with the delivery of professional nursing care to the trauma patient.

The goal of TNCC is to improve trauma patient outcomes by providing nurses with foundational trauma knowledge, skills, and a systematic Trauma Nursing Process to guide trauma patient care.

Verification of successful course completion is based on passing the written exam and the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) psychomotor skills station  Verification is valid for four years.

Pre-Requisites:

Participants must be an RN and possess a current unrestricted nursing license to receive verification.

It is preferred that participants have at least six months of clinical nursing experience in an emergency care setting before attending the course.  It is assumed that the course participant possesses generic nursing knowledge, has an understanding of emergency care terminology, and has familiarity with standard emergency equipment.
